Humans have 7 main chakras: Crown, Third Eye, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral, and Root. Each are correlated to different aspects of life and can be "blocked or shut off." History: Usui Reiki is traditional Japanese energy work that has been around for thousands of years. There are multiple forms of Japanese Reiki and most, if not all, indigenous cultures have their own style of energy healing, ex: China- Qi Gong. Mikao Usui founded Usui Reiki in March of 1922. The following month, he moved to Tokyo and started his practice. The practice grew so much that another facility had to be built in 1925. Unfortunately, Mikao Usui suffered a stroke in March on 1926, just 4 short years after developing this style of Reiki. Usui Reiki is the most widely known version, due to Hawayo Takata bringing it to Hawaii in 1937. She was attuned by Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, the man that took over after Mikao Usui's passing. The book I was taught from was written by William Lee Rand, who was attuned for Reiki in 1981 and who only had 3 Reiki Masters before tracing back to Mikao Usui.
